Monday 20th September 2010
Chris Smith, Chief of Staff at Lambeth Palace, today announced some changes to the Archbishop of Canterbury's personal staff.Tim Livesey, the Archbishop's Secretary for Public Affairs, will take on a new role as the Archbishop's Secretary for International Affairs from 1 October.
The Revd George Pitcher will join the Archbishop's staff on 1 October as Secretary for Public Affairs.
The Revd Canon Guy Wilkinson, the Archbishop's Secretary for Inter Religious Affairs (and the Church of England's National Inter Religious Affairs Adviser) will be stepping down at the end of the year after five years in the role.
Chris Smith said: "The Archbishop is sad to be losing Guy whose work in inter-religious affairs has rightly earned him great respect both in the UK and overseas. We owe him a huge debt and wish him very well with the various projects he hopes to pursue from January next year. It is a great pleasure to welcome George to Lambeth. He brings with him a wealth of public affairs and media experience. After four and a half years mainly focused on UK public affairs Tim returns to his diplomatic roots in taking on a new international affairs portfolio adding his international relations experience to that of colleagues working across a range of international portfolios including Anglican Communion, Ecumenical, Inter-religious and Development affairs."
