Melanesian Archbishop joins Ascension service

The Archbishop and Primate of Melanesia, the Most Revd David Vunagi, concelebrated and preached at an Ascension Day service today at Lambeth Palace at which the Archbishop of Canterbury presided.In his sermon, Archbishop Vunagi spoke of the gift of peace which Jesus had left with his disciples before he ascended; and also the challenge for each of us to bring peace to our own situations, both in the Church and in society. During the service, the Companions of the Melanesian Brotherhood received a blessing from the Archbishop of Melanesia.
Also present were Mrs Mary Vunagi, the Most Revd Alan Harper, Primate of the Church of Ireland, and Mrs Helen Harper, and members of the European Chapter of the Companions of the Melanesian Brotherhood, of which the Most Revd Dr Rowan Williams Archbishop of Canterbury is Regional Father.
