Building Bridges Christian-Muslim Seminar on Death, Resurrection and Human Destiny

Friday 20th April 2012

The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, will chair the 11th Annual Building Bridges Seminar in London and Canterbury, from April 23 – 25, 2012.

The 11th Annual Building Bridges Seminar is titled 'Death, Resurrection and Human Destiny: Christian and Muslim Perspectives.'  As in previous Building Bridges seminars, a number of texts from the Christian and Islamic traditions will be used as the basis for discussion in a programme that includes public lectures and private sessions.

This year's public lectures will be given at King's College London by Bishop Tom Wright, Prof Mona Siddiqui, Bishop Geoffrey Rowell, Prof Asma Afsaruddin, The Revd Dr Harriet Harris and Dr Sajjad Rizvi.

All are welcome to attend these public lectures.

Since 2002, the Archbishop of Canterbury has chaired the annual seminar, which brings together leading Muslim and Christian scholars from around the world to explore issues at the heart of the two traditions. This will be the last of these seminars that Dr Williams will chair before taking up his new post in Cambridge at the end of this year. Plans are in place for Georgetown University to take this initiative forward.

This event has been organised in partnership with Georgetown University, which has hosted the Building Bridges Seminar in 2004, 2006 and 2010. Other seminars in this series have been held in Istanbul, Rome, Doha, Sarajevo and Singapore.

The programme for the day of public lectures on Monday 23rd April at Kings College is below:
