A film showing the shaken reactions of the Archbishops of Canterbury and York on seeing the site of a former slave market has shared a top prize for internet video at the 2007 Jerusalem Trust Awards. The IPTV Award went to The Slave Market, a short film made to promote the Church of England's Walk of Witness, which took place in London on 23rd March to mark the bicentenary of the Abolition of the Slave Trade Act.
The film was shot in Zanzibar during the Primates meeting and shows the appalling conditions in which slaves were kept prior to auction and onward shipping to owners. Both Archbishops were visibly moved as they recounted their reactions on seeing the chains and the pits in which the slaves were held.
