Announcement of the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury, Right Reverend Justin Welby (Nov 2012)

On Friday 9 November 2012, the Right Reverend Justin Welby was announced as the 105th Archbishop of Canterbury. At this Lambeth Palace press conference, pictured below, Bishop Justin said he was “astonished and excited” to be taking over from Dr Rowan Williams, who stands down as Archbishop at the end of December. Acknowledging the many challenges faced by the Church, he said it will be a privilege to lead the Church "at a time of great spiritual hunger".
